Size Guide

Part 1 — Understanding Pet Body Types

Not all pets of the same weight fit the same way. Beyond raw weight, consider body shape and sleeping style:

Dog body-type categories

 Type Traits Fit note
Toy / Mini
< 5 kg, short legs, compact
Need small, enclosed, cozy beds
Small 5–10 kg, slender to stocky
Bolster or nest beds in S–M
Medium 10–20 kg, athletic build
Open mattresses or L beds
Large / Giant
20–45 kg, broad chest
XL ortho beds, reinforced seams
Long-body (Dachshund, Corgi)
Long spine, short legs
Extra length matters more than width
Broad-chest (Bulldog, Boxer)
Thick torso
Prioritize chest room

Cat body-type categories

 Type Traits Fit note
Small cat 3–4 kg
S bed or cat cave
Average cat
4–6 kg
M bed, ~50 cm
Large cat
6–8 kg (Maine Coon etc.)
L bed, ~70 cm
Multi-cat
—— One XL or two separate beds

Sleeping style matters as much as size:

  • Curler (balls up) → snug, round bolsters
  • Sprawler (lies flat, legs out) → rectangular, larger mattress
  • Leaning (against walls) → corner or bolster beds

Part 2 — How to Measure Your Pet at Home

You need just a soft tape measure and a treat.

Step-by-step

  1. Weight — Weigh your pet (vet scale, or hold + subtract your weight). Most reliable single number.
  2. Body length (A→B) — From base of neck/shoulders to base of tail, along the spine.
  3. Chest girth — Around the widest part of the rib cage (for apparel).
  4. Height — Floor to top of shoulders (for crates/car seats).
  5. Sleep stretch — Let them lie down fully stretched; measure nose-to-tail. Add 15–20 cm buffer.

Quick formula:

Bed length ≈ pet body length + 15–20 cm (so they can fully extend).

Part 5 — Sizing by Product Category

Beds & Sofa Beds

  • Match bed inner dimension to your pet's stretched length + buffer.
  • Bolster height should not block entry for senior/short-legged pets.

Car Seats & Travel Beds

  • Match to vehicle seat width + pet weight.
  • Secure-strap anchors must attach to seatbelt anchor points.
  • Never size down "to fit the car" — safety first.

Mats, Blankets & Sofa Covers

  • Measure the furniture surface, not the pet.
  • Covers: 2-seater ≈ 130×170 cm; 3-seater ≈ 170×220 cm.

Apparel

  • Back length is the #1 measurement.
  • Always leave 2–3 cm ease at the chest for comfort.

Part 6 — Smart Buying Advice

  1. Size up, not down. Extra room = comfort; too small = rejected bed.
  2. Plan for growth. Puppies/kittens often outgrow S beds in months — buy near adult size if keeping long-term.
  3. Senior pets: low step-in height + orthopedic foam reduces joint strain.
  4. Hot climates (Brazil, Spain, Italy): choose breathable cotton-linen or cooling mats over plush.
  5. Cold climates (Germany, Nordics): fleece/bolster beds retain warmth.
  6. Multi-pet homes: one large bed OR two separate beds reduces resource guarding.
  7. When unsure: send breed + weight to our team — we'll recommend a size.

Part 7 — FAQ
