Our Story
The Beginning
It started with a dog named Biscuit and a very ugly pet bed.
In 2024, our founder was setting up a new apartment. She'd spent weeks choosing the right sofa, the right rug, the right throw pillows — creating a space that felt like home. Then she unboxed Biscuit's new bed. It was bright blue, made of crinkly polyester, and looked like it belonged in a discount pet aisle, not in the living room she'd so carefully curated.
She searched for alternatives. Everything she found fell into one of two categories: genuinely beautiful but absurdly expensive ($300+ designer beds), or affordable but eyesores. There was nothing in the middle — nothing that treated pet bedding as a real home goods category, with the same attention to materials, design, and craftsmanship that we expect from our own furniture.
So she decided to make one herself.
From Prototype to Pawterre
The first prototype was built on a kitchen table. It was a simple bolster bed, sewn from cotton-linen fabric sourced from a textile mill in Portugal, stuffed with resilient PP cotton, and designed in a neutral tone that actually matched a living room. Biscuit approved. So did every guest who visited and asked, "Where did you get that? It's beautiful. Is that... a pet bed?"
That question — "Is that a pet bed?" — asked with genuine surprise, became the North Star. If people couldn't tell it was a pet bed at first glance, the design was working.
The first collection launched with three beds. Today, Pawterre offers a full range of home pet beds, travel accessories, blankets, and mats — all designed around the same principle: products that pets love and humans are proud to display.

Today — And What's Next
Pawterre continues to grow, but the mission hasn't changed: make pet products that belong in beautiful homes. Upcoming: a sustainable materials line, an expanded travel collection, and the first Pawterre flagship store experience.
Our Values
1. Design is not decoration — it's empathy.
We design from the pet's perspective first: how they sleep, what they lean against, what makes them feel safe. Then we translate that into forms that humans find beautiful. Good design serves both.
2. Materials matter more than marketing.
We could use cheaper fabrics and spend more on ads. We don't. We invest in materials that feel good, last long, and age gracefully. Every fabric is chosen for both pet comfort and human aesthetic standards.
3. Honesty over hype.
We won't tell you our bed will cure your pet's anxiety or add five years to their life. We'll tell you it's well-made, comfortable, and designed to look good in your home. That's it. If something isn't right, we'll fix it — no spin.
4. Pets are family, and family deserves quality.
The "good enough for a pet" standard is insulting. Pets spend more time on their beds than we spend on ours. Their things should be held to the same quality bar — or higher.
5. Global by design, local by respect.
We serve customers across Europe and South America, and we take the time to understand what matters in each market — from German packaging compliance to Brazilian payment preferences. Global reach doesn't mean one-size-fits-all.
Our Mission
To create a world where pet products are held to the same design and quality standards as everything else in your home.
We believe the pet industry has been stuck in a race to the bottom — cheaper materials, louder colors, lower quality. We're building in the opposite direction. Every Pawterre product should be something you'd choose for its design and quality, even if you didn't have a pet.
The Team
We're a small, obsessive team of pet people and design people. Sometimes we're the same person.
Founder & Creative Director
Started Pawterre after a career in interior design and a lifetime of pet ownership. Believes that the most beautiful object in a room can also be the most functional. Lives with Biscuit (a rescue terrier mix) and Mochi (a very opinionated cat).
Head of Product
A textile engineer who spent a decade in home goods manufacturing before pivoting to pet products. Obsessed with fabric weight, thread count, and fill density. Can tell the difference between 300gsm and 350gsm cotton by touch alone.
Logistics & Compliance Lead
Navigates the labyrinth of international shipping, customs, VAT, and product certifications so the rest of the team can focus on design. Has memorized the HS codes for pet beds in 15 countries. Lives with two German Shepherds who destroy every prototype they can reach.
Customer Experience
The voice behind every email. Pet parent to a senior rescue cat with very specific bedding preferences. Believes that good customer service is just empathy applied to commerce.
Biscuit — Chief Product Tester
A rescue terrier mix with strong opinions about bolster height and fabric softness. Has rejected approximately 30% of all prototypes. His approval is final.
Why "Pawterre"?
The name comes from a simple idea: paw + terre (French for "earth" or "ground"). A pet's place on this earth — their little patch of home, their territory, their comfort zone. We make the ground they rest on.
Every pet deserves a good place to land. That's what we're here for.
